men, women and viceversa

Friday 13th, as the tradition says a bad luck day. All the day was raining cats and dogs and we had to play traditional Irish sports in the rain. We played gaelic football, hurling, tennis... Then it started to rain more and more and we had to stop playing because the rain didn't let us see anything. Some of the Catalan and Italian people went to the swimming pool and the others went to play basketball. After ten minutes the alarm of the swimming pool club started to ring and all the lifeguards said to us that we had to go out of the swimming pool. We had to go to the street with the swimsuit and after a few minutes we could get back to the pool.  It was an alarm test.
After we had dinner, we went to our appartments because we had to dress like the oposite sex (the boys had to dress as a girl and the girls as a boy). We had to go to the disco dressed like that. We danced a lot and the song with more success was "Paquito el Chocolatero"!!.
Finally we returned to the apparments and we started to sleep immediatly because we were so tired.

PS. We, Montse and Silvia, did the laundry as well. In the morning we got to the village reception to take some tokens for the washing machines and we collected all the students' clothes that needed to be washed. After lunch, we got back to the village and we put all the clean clothes to the dryer machines. Later, we sort out all the clothes into boys' T-shirts, girls' T-shirts, trousers, socks, underwear, etc and we set everything on the sofas of our appartment. Before the disco, each student passed by to collect his or her clothes back!

Chats and Castles

Today, like every day in Ireland, it was raining. We started the lessons at nine o'clock. After the lessons, we had lunch (if we can call it "lunch"), fish with salad and pasta. This afternoon, we visited King John's Castle in the city. We saw two short films about the castle's history. It was raining as well but we took lots of photos. We went to the castle's tower and we saw the Shannon river, Limerick, the Munster's Rugby Stadium, etc. Then, we went to the souvenir shop and bought some presents for the families. It's been an interesting visit! After that, we got down to the city center to go shopping: some girls went to a clothes shop and the other girls and the boys went to a film/music/videogame shop.
When we got back to the campus, we had dinner (the best meal of the day) and we played pool with the Italians at the Students Union Building. Later we went to do a chatting activity with all the Italians. We had to talk to a person for two minutes and then move around and talk to a different person, that's been so fun and we've found out many interesting things about the other students! On the way back to the appartments, we've taken a different way to pass over the Living Bridge. It's the longest hanging bridge in Ireland and it was opened by the President of Ireland in 2010. It's one of the most important architectural icons of the university and of Ireland too. And that's been our great day!

One day in Limerick city

Today we have done the same as everyday. We got up and had breakfast. After we went to the classes and we had our English lessons.
After lunch, we have caugth the bus for 20 minuts to Limerick to visit the city. We have seen some monuments and important buildings. And also we have walked around some beautiful streets of the city.
When we have had finished the turistic tour, we have got free time to go shopping and have some drinks. In this free time we have met with two Irish boys that we had already known yesterday. We have spoken some English with them at the same time that we were walking througth the city center. Finally we have got the bus again for 20 minutes to come back to the appartaments.
After dinner the disco is waiting for us at 20:00pm (one more hour in Spain). Then we'll have a shower before getting to bed.

The first day with our classmates!

We woke up at 8 o'clock. We had our breakfast and then, we went to the classroom. But today it was different because we met with the Italian people. At first, we went all together in the same class. Later, one of the teachers started to split up us in different groups.
When the lessons finished, we had lunch: there weren't much options to choose :( but we ate because we were hungry. Afterwards, we met another time with the Italian people and we started to play some games with them. We played hokey and football, it was awsome:).
Finally, we went to the swimming pool and we have met some Irish boys. Now we are writting this and we are waiting for another activity which consist of having a blind date.

Pool's (and test's) day

Hello again!!
Today we woke up early and... more rain, more low temperatures and no sun. We had our first breakfast in Ireland and we went to the classes building. Our center maneger, Elein, explained us some things about the Universitiy of Limerick. After that we did our English test, oral and written and we had free time to drink or eat something. Then we did a kind of oral presentations with the English teachers. At 1 o'clock we had lunch to have energy to go to the pool of the University at 4 o'clock. It is amazing to have an olympic swimming pool in the University!! When we left the pool, it started to rain heavy but we had to go to have dinner at an University's restaurant. In this rsestaurant we had a nice meeting: we saw some of the italians that we met last year in Lancaster. Now we're going to do the evening activities, some quizs and some sports if the weather permits it to us.
Nice to see you again and thanks for following us!

GETTING AT LIMERICK!

 Hello everybody,

we are a group of students from Escola El Cim and Escola La Tecnos of Terrassa, and some other students from Viladecavalls and Barcelona. We are staying at the University of Limerick for a 2-weeks English course together with our teachers, Montse and Sílvia.

Today it's been the first day of our trip.
After saying goodbye to our families at Barcelona's airport, we took a good flight to Dublin and then we had a 3-hours journey to Limerick by bus.
When we got off the bus, we could feel the typical Irish weather: rain, wind and quite low temperatures compared to the hot weather we were used to in our home town.

Elaine, our MLI coordinator, was waiting for us. She showed us our accomodation appartments and she explained us a few things. We were amazed: each room has a bathroom and each appartment has an office kitchen with a wide dining and living room area!
Then we got our pack dinner (some salad, some pasta and a sandwich) and we walked to the main building to watch a movie.

Well, that's all for today, we are a bit tired and we need to rest.

Here you can see some pictures!
