Thank you Limerick and MLI for all you have taught us!!!

Today it has been our last day.  We are sad because we have to leave Limerick, the city, the university and overall the friends and people we have met. We have learned more than English.
This morning after lessons, teachers have given us the certificates and congratulated us for improving our English, but in deep we were satisfied because we have improved not only English but also social skills: how to be friendly, how to be sociable, how to respect  others ways of life and others thinking.
After lunch we have walked to the city centre with the Italians next to the riverside, a wonderful walk, we have seen swans and ducks  and there at the city, we have made our last shopping.
After dinner, the disco. We have danced, sung and laughed in the Irish party. Some of us dressed up in green, the Irish colour, some other wore a shamrock painted on their faces. We danced and danced until became crazy. It was our farewell party, and everybody was happy!!!
Then, and when the disco has finished, all of us wanted to goodbye ours friends, hugs, tears, sad smiles, the air was full of emotions and nobody wanted to come back to the accommodations.
Tomorrow we have to wake up at four, so, now it is time to pack and if it is possible to sleep a little bit...
We want to thank  MLI team, Elaine, Aine, Dee, Killian, Alan and all of the teachers who have been involved in our stay in Limerick. Thank you to let us enjoy your country and your culture, it is beautiful!!! We want to come back!!!

sports and movies

This is incredible but today it wasn't raining.
Today we woke up early like every day and we went to class. We made the final exam for the certificate. Then, they mixt us again with the new Italian people so we met them better.
After lunch we had free time and we played pool at the students' union room. Later we went to play some sports and we made a football tournement. The winners were Adrià, Núria, Pablo and Maria. We returned to the apartments for a new way beside the river.
In the evening activity, we had to record different situations in groups (mixing italians and catalans). They were about Harry Potter, Little red rifding hood, X factor, etc. There was a winner group too (Mireia, Cristina, Maria and other italian people).

This is all for today!!!   See you soon

Sports under the sun and under the rain

Students had classes this morning as usual and then they had lunch at Paddock, the best restaurant in the campus.
There's a good atmosphere, delicious food and a friendly cook.
In the afternoon, they played games and sports. First they did three-legged races and races holding a ball with their heads and after that, they played football. Surprisingly, the weather was sunny for an hour, but suddenly it rained. So, we had to run under the trees (we've found out it might be a tradition in Ireland, Irish people shout "under the trees" anytime it rains, so we can understand why there are so many trees in here). From 4 to 5, students went to the Sports Arena to play indoor basketball and football, while some others went swimming to the 50m Olympic swimming pool.
After having a shower, we had dinner at Scholars, the second best restaurant.
What a surprise when we found out that in the evening activity there was a new group of Italian people to meet!! We did a speed-talking activity consisting of talking to different people for 2-3 minutes and then change to meet new people each round. It was a good activity to break the ice with the new students. The last activity and the one they enjoy the most was Blind date. Good night!

PS. There are two days left in the campus! Although we are a bit tired, when we ask the students if they want to come back, they answer at the same time: Noooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!

Pizza Party

Today was the tenth day here in Ireland. We woke up as everyday at 8 o'clock and we went to the lessons with our Italian classmates.
Then, we had lunch at the restaurant and we caught the bus which took us to Limerick's center. There we visited an enormous park, People's Park, where we took photos with the Italian people. In the park, there was a monument of a famous businesman of the city, a fountain and a playground. Later, we went to the Georgian house to visit it and know something about the history of Limerick. We saw different rooms and a garden together with three different guides that explaind us many things.
After dinner we went to the Games room to play pool, chess, domino, cards... we enjoyed a lot because we talked with Italians and we played with them.
Finally, our teachers gave us some pizzas to eat and we had our 2n dinner.
See you on Saturday.

Feeling older: visiting a museum and playing bingo!!!

Hi!!!!! we are here again writting about another day in Limerick. The lessons today had started a little bit different, because some students left Limerick campus last weekend and we had to rearrange the groups. After that we had our ordinary lessons.
Today we had lunch in a different restaurant because there was a conference at university and too many people was eating in the canteen.
Later in the afternoon, we went to visit The Hunt Museum in the city centre without the Italian people. We did a tour around the museum with a guide and we did a quiz with some questions about the exhibition.
Then we returned back to the campus and some of us played sports and others got back to the acomodations to have a shower.
Finaly, after dinner, we went with the other groups to play bingo, cards and some other games all together. It was nice and we had a lot of fun.
we see you tomorrow!!!
kisses and hugs oxoxox

We've been in prison

Hi, nice to meet you again!! Today we woke up and... there was sun!! But we had to leave the University and the good weather to go to Cork and to the horrible weather. We just travelled for about 2 hours by bus and we arrived at Cork, it was rainning. First, we went to the city's prision, The Cork Goal" and we had a tour inside the prision with an excellent guide, she explained us a lot of incredible stories about some of the prisioners. After that, we returned to the bus for having lunch because it was rainning heavy outside. When we finished lunch, we went to the city centre and our MLI activity leader, Dee, explained us some more things about Cork and about the most important monuments there. Such as, the Opera House, the Pauls Cathedral, the National Monument, a fountain, among others.  And then... we had time to do what we like the most: WE COULD GO SHOPPING!! Most of us got to Carrolls shop where we could get great gifts at good prices! Also, Marta had time to meet a couple of Catalan friends that were staying at Cork too.
When we returned to the campus we had dinner and we went with our Italian friends to watch the film School of Rock all together.
We're so sad because tomorrow we have to return to classes but we have enjoied the weekend too much.

It's been a tiring and amazing day.......we walked, walked and walked

HELLO!!! Today we didn't have class. We went to the Cliffs of Moher, we walked arround the Cliffs for two hours. The leader told us that the Cliffs of Moher will be one of the Natural Wonders of the World. It was very exciting and the Cliffs are the part of the travel that we enjoyed the most. Then, we had free time to have lunch in a small village near the sea where it's tipical to surf. People were swimming in the sea even the wind and cold water. After that we returned to the university and we had dinner. We went to a different restaurant to eat because the regular one is closed at weekends. Later we went to watch the dog's races at a little stadium in Limerick and we bet on the races. It was very funny because Gemma Tirón won all the bets that she did!
Today was an amazing day, we enjoyed a lot!

men, women and viceversa

Friday 13th, as the tradition says a bad luck day. All the day was raining cats and dogs and we had to play traditional Irish sports in the rain. We played gaelic football, hurling, tennis... Then it started to rain more and more and we had to stop playing because the rain didn't let us see anything. Some of the Catalan and Italian people went to the swimming pool and the others went to play basketball. After ten minutes the alarm of the swimming pool club started to ring and all the lifeguards said to us that we had to go out of the swimming pool. We had to go to the street with the swimsuit and after a few minutes we could get back to the pool.  It was an alarm test.
After we had dinner, we went to our appartments because we had to dress like the oposite sex (the boys had to dress as a girl and the girls as a boy). We had to go to the disco dressed like that. We danced a lot and the song with more success was "Paquito el Chocolatero"!!.
Finally we returned to the apparments and we started to sleep immediatly because we were so tired.

Marta and Mireia

PS. We, Montse and Silvia, did the laundry as well. In the morning we got to the village reception to take some tokens for the washing machines and we collected all the students' clothes that needed to be washed. After lunch, we got back to the village and we put all the clean clothes to the dryer machines. Later, we sort out all the clothes into boys' T-shirts, girls' T-shirts, trousers, socks, underwear, etc and we set everything on the sofas of our appartment. Before the disco, each student passed by to collect his or her clothes back!

Chats and Castles

Today, like every day in Ireland, it was raining. We started the lessons at nine o'clock. After the lessons, we had lunch (if we can call it "lunch"), fish with salad and pasta. This afternoon, we visited King John's Castle in the city. We saw two short films about the castle's history. It was raining as well but we took lots of photos. We went to the castle's tower and we saw the Shannon river, Limerick, the Munster's Rugby Stadium, etc. Then, we went to the souvenir shop and bought some presents for the families. It's been an interesting visit! After that, we got down to the city center to go shopping: some girls went to a clothes shop and the other girls and the boys went to a film/music/videogame shop.
When we got back to the campus, we had dinner (the best meal of the day) and we played pool with the Italians at the Students Union Building. Later we went to do a chatting activity with all the Italians. We had to talk to a person for two minutes and then move around and talk to a different person, that's been so fun and we've found out many interesting things about the other students! On the way back to the appartments, we've taken a different way to pass over the Living Bridge. It's the longest hanging bridge in Ireland and it was opened by the President of Ireland in 2010. It's one of the most important architectural icons of the university and of Ireland too. And that's been our great day!
